Network Neutrality
January 1st, 2008Network Neutrality or Net Neutrality is the notion that the companies that provide the network infrastructure for the internet should not interfere with the passage of the data that they move around the internet.
Some of the infrastructure providers want to provide a faster transfer for business web sites and a slower transfer for personal web sites. Net Neutrality means that data would travel around the internet at the same speed irrespective of which web site was being shown and irrespective of who was looking at it.
Net Neutrality also means that Internet Service Providers would not be able to inject their own content into web pages as it travels through their network to the reader's computer.
